Energy Descent Action Plan

An Energy Descent Action Plan (EDAP) – is a local plan for planning and preparing for energy descent. It goes well beyond issues of energy supply, to look at across-the-board creative adaptations in the realms of health, education, economy and much more. Energy Descent Planning is a process developed by the Transition Towns Movement.

TED Talk on Transition

Transition Towns is a community-driven movement designed to fight climate change and stabilize local economies by fostering solidarity around local energy sources, local food, and local, responsible, businesses. In this talk, Rob Hopkins offers a proof of concept -- demonstrating how his town of Totnes shifted from a "long slow death" to the paragon of close-knit, twenty-first-century neighborhoods.

Transition Sarasota

living in a community that is walkable, bikeable, and busable. One where your food comes fresh from a local farm or straight from your own garden. Where people know and look after each other. Where there is a network of local businesses that can thrive in any economy. Where our homes are powered by clean, renewable energy. Where people are united by a common purpose. Where nature is protected to be enjoyed by all.

This is the vision of Transition Sarasota. Together, we can work to make it a reality.

Relocalization is a strategy to build societies based on the local production of food, energy and goods, and the local development of currency, governance and culture. The main goals of relocalization are to increase community energy security, to strengthen local economies, and to improve environmental conditions and social equity. The relocalization strategy developed in response to the environmental, social, political and economic impacts of global over-reliance on cheap energy
